"The Dancer" was written in 2009 when I was living in Laredo, TX. At the time I was drinking and partying a lot with friends, one of those nights I busted out my 12-string acoustic guitar (that was missing 2 strings) and started playing the chord progression and rhythm that would turn into this song.

A lot of my friends would ask for me to play it when they would come over and I knew I was onto something. The lyrical content was not the "usual" material I would write so I was reserved about recording it or releasing it until I started recording a few years after it was written. I felt there was something lacking in the sound and so I consulted my good friend, Iain Clarke, to see if he could improve upon it by giving it a real drummer. The results can be seen here from the original demo to the final recording.

"Throw Down Your Heart" came about after watching the Bela Fleck documentary of the same name. I just loved the title and meaning behind it and the song, as short as it is, came to me in just as equal of a short time. If you haven't watched the documentary I suggest you should!
